The Election Commission on Monday reported surveys to fill 13 Rajya Sabha seats across six states falling empty in April, including those of Congress veterans AK Antony and Anand Sharma, that are planned to be hung on March 31.

Noticeable among those resigning are Antony (Kerala), Sharma (Himachal Pradesh), and Partap Singh Bajwa and Naresh Gujral (Punjab). While previous Defense Minister Antony, Deputy Leader of Congress in Rajya Sabha Sharma and Bajwa are Congress pioneers, Gujral addresses the Shiromani Akali Dal.
Individuals from Assam (two), Himachal (one), Kerala (three), Nagaland (one) and Tripura (one) are resigning on April 2, while five individuals from Punjab are resigning on April 9.

“Out of the five seats to be filled from Punjab, three are to be filled by holding one political decision and the other two through one more political race as these seats have a place with two unique biennial cycles,” the EC said.
The warning for the biennial races will be given on March 14 and the surveys will be hung on March 31. The counting will happen upon the arrival of surveying from 5 pm onwards.

The EC has likewise coordinated the Chief Secretaries worried to depute a senior official from the state to guarantee that the surviving directions in regards to Covid-19 control measures are agreed with while making game plans for leading the decisions.
