The Odisha government has decided to start boating facilities at 100 water tracks by December this year in order to enhance the tourism sector.
Chief Secretary S.C. Mahapatra directed the departments of forest and environment, water resources, and tourism to identify roughly 100 locations. He urged his officials to submit the final list of will be submitted within a month.
Mahapatra also instructed the concerned officials to set up the floating jetties and boats in a timely manner. The plan is set to be ready and commence by December this year.
He further said that the destinations should be chosen based on their competitiveness in the tourism sector and their ability to provide travelers with unique experiences.
The Chief Secretary stated that proper location selection and promotion will attract private investment to the tourist sector, which will take the state’s ecotourism to the next level.
The tourism department’s officials have been directed to ensure that sufficient safety precautions are in place at the boating areas.
The government has decided that the areas would be managed by the local communities. Odisha has 118 small and large dams.Major dams are as Hirakud, Mandira, Patora, Deras, Jhumka, Indrabati, Kolab, and many others.
Natural lakes such Chilika, Ansupa, Pata, and Kanjia, as well as large rivers like Mahanadi, Bramhani, Baitarani, Rusikulya, Bansadhara, Nagabali, Subarnarekha, and Budhabalanga, abound in the state.
